Macros in ARIS Connect

We have modelers working in Designer and Connect. Modelers working in Designer are governed by user defined macros which are triggered every time a model is saved. The macro carry out checks to ensure that modeling conventions are followed. Our problem is the modelers working in Connect do not have this functionality since user defined macros cannot be executed in Connect. Could we have user defined macros available in Connect.

    Hi Khumo,

unfortunately, there are no attachments, that match what you've described. Maybe you have to go to the user interface of the ARIS ideas portal and upload the attachment there.

I assume that there is a confusion due to ambiguous use of the term "macro". In the browser-based client you can only create an event-based execution of reports. In the browser we call these event-based executions "macros". The important part is that you can ONLY use reports to be executed and not macros which you might have scripted using the macro API.

If that's the issue, you need to translate your macro script to a report script first.

    Regards,

    Philip

    Good day Philip,

We just tested the execution of user-defined macros on ARIS Connect and the macro was not triggered by the specified event.

Attached is an example of a user-defined macro we need in ARIS Connect.

    Kind regards
    Khumo Makhutle

    Hi Khumo,

thank you for sharing your idea. As of today you can create Macros in the connect designer. Based on the selected Macro events, reports and semantic checks can be run. This also includes custom reports.

    Does that cover your requirements?

    Regards,
    Philip
