Populate default attribute values when creating new models/objects

It would facilitate if default values can be automatically populated for model/object attributes when creating a model/object. For example we are looking to have a default design status attribute value added automatically. Today the workaround is to run scripts/reports to add relevant attribute values to new models but it doesn't quite make sense
