When creating a variant copy in the Java Client, you can choose which objects in the Variant copy should be definition or occurrence copies. This is not possible in the Connect Designer. It assumes all objects should be definition copies. As we make use of Library objects for such as Organisation and Roles, this results in the Variant copy operation making definition copies of the library objects and also creating entire group structures. This breaks the concept of library objects and makes a mess of the Repository and takes a lot of time to tidy up. As a work around I have stopped creating Variant copies directly and either done it only in the Java Designer Client or making an Occurrence copy and then creating the variant relationship afterwards.
