From customer I received the request support a data type to store amounts of money with currencies.
Columns with numbers with currency symbols (money amount) can be loaded as text only at the moment and need to be transformed for further use.
With data type currency we can support use cases like currency conversion.
Other customers requested that too.
In addition there is a request to add/store other units than currency, like volume or mass...
