CONNECT Designer doesn't differentiate between symbols

We use Controls Symbol (ST_CONTR) in our method to document Controls. There is a centralized Controls Library from which Controls are supposed to be reused in EPCs.

When adding Controls to EPCs, CONNECT Designerdoesn't differentiate between objects which have Control Symbol and which do not have Control Symbol ( i.e. function or process steps ) in showing list of existing objects from the database. This leads to a really long list of objects which could be annoying as well as lead users to make mistakes.

Ideally while adding a Control, the CONNECT Designer should restrict the possible suggestions result to just objects with Controls symbol, instead the suggestions include all objects of type function ( even those which do not have Control symbol such as functions in EPCs). This would prevent users from selecting something incorrect as well as also reduce the list of suggestions and improve user experience.

The issue was reported in Incident#5387903, pls refer for detailed explanation. It was advised that the behavior is standard and a feature request should be raised so that this can be evaluated further.
