Enterprise Search Enhancements

We have recently introduced the enterprise search feature (replacing the old portal search). There are a few features of the old portal search that do not seem to be present in the new enterprise search, but they we features that our ARIS users responded well to.

  1. Database-specific results: Our users have access to multiple databases, but typically only look at one database. With the old portal search, the search results were specific to the database they were looking at. With the enterprise search, the search results are enterprise-wide. Would it be possible to introduce a default database option for the enterprise search results? If users want to expand their search to enterprise-wide, they can change that manually?

  2. Quick links in search drop-down: In the older portal search, when users started typing model names, a dropdown appeared with models matching that name which they could click on to quickly navigate to that model. In the enterprise search, that feature no longer seems possible. Instead they have to press search and select the model from the search results. This can be seen as a less efficient user experience. Could the old feature be incorporated into the enterprise search?

Additionally, there are couple of features that are available in the repository search that is available to designers that would be really useful to be incorporated into the enterprise search for viewers:

3. Attribute filtering by value: In the repository search (and to a degree in the old portal search) it is possible to filter search results by multiple different attributes and search by different values per attribute. In the enterprise search, you can only search by the one search text - you can filter by multiple attributes, but not have different values for each attribute - this is also not very intuitive to our users, with several of them believing the enterprise search to not be working properly. The attribute filtering in the enterprise search would be far more effective if it worked like the repository search.

4. Search results in table: In the enterprise search, the search results appear in a list. In the repository search, the results appear in a table with the ability to add additional columns. This is far more useful for users when analysing the search results.
