most people are used to clicking only once to navigate through a portal. When you are on the portal in ARIS, you can navigate by clicking once on the assignment icon or clicking twice on the object icon. This is confusing for many users, even experienced users, but especially the not-so-frequent users forget about that detail.
For the experienced user it is clear that clicking once allows to have specific information of that object (or model) in the 'details / properties' pane.
But you also sometimes want to navigate quick or you may not be interested in the "details/properties" pane every level you go through. You just want to have as much as possible of the model on your screen and navigate quick. Still you have to either click twice on the object or once on the assignment icon, while clicking on the assignment icon is not always that easy and clicking twice is not a habit when navigating on a portal...
A solution could be to make a difference between the navigation with and without the "details / properties" pane. If the user does not have the details/properties pane activated; then clicking once on the object should allow to navigate to the model assigned. If the user has the details/properties pane open; then clicking once can still be considered as selecting the object (just like now) and then shows the details/properties of the selected object...
Love it!
One click navigation in the portal shipped in our November release, ARIS 10 SR27.
